Products I Love: Laughing Cow Wedges

I try to have a few "meals" a day. I eat breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, [sometimes] an afternoon snack, and then dinner.

My snacking goes in phases. There are weeks on end, where I am completely satisfied with a Greek yogurt, or a granola bar. Lately, I look forward to my new favorite snack: A light Swiss Laughing Cow cheese wedge, with exactly 6 Ritz crackers.

Fat: 7g
Protein: 3g

I know it's not the healthiest option in the world, but it's not awful either, and it hits the spot. I'd also be willing to try the Laughing Cow wedge on other "cracker" options like rice cakes or whole wheat toast. Either way, they get my stamp of approval! My only complaint is that there's only 8 in a package, and around me, they cost $3.99 -- which I think is quite expensive.

Fun with Bake Pops

The new trend of "cake pops" is spreading everywhere. A little ball of crumbled cake and icing, cake pops are very cute and portioned, (Great for calorie counters) but also labor-intensive. I'd been itching to try them, but life's been hectic -- so I found the next best thing: Bake Pops.

Bake Pops, by TeleBrands, is a pan that makes the pop for you -- just mix up your favorite cake mix (there's also a recipe inside if you want a more traditionally dense texture), throw them in the oven, and you're set.

The one criticism I will say is that the directions do not tell you how high in each divot to fill the batter. My experience was to go no more than half way, or the batter will spill over the top. Other than that, I really had a lot of fun with the product. It was very simple, quick, and I LOVE the concept of mini portions of cake, for when I'm trying to be "good", but would like just a taste of dessert. I'm getting my sister a set for her birthday -- I know she'll have a ball with these!!


I brought Bake Pops to the going away party for my friend, Becca, where they were a huge hit. 

Thank you to the lovely Mel and Jess, who were happy to first pose with, then try, then rave about how much they loved the pops. Don't they look purdy?!

Products I Love: Head Chefs Cooking Tools

My dear friend, Jack, sent these to me for my birthday. Aren't they adorable?? There's a silicone 1/2 cup measure, a silicone marinade brush, and a silicone "turner". What a great concept for getting kids into cooking! Not only are the tools colorful, but their suction cup "feet" allow them to stand on the counter-top, and they're dishwasher safe.

The Doritos Taco Bell Creation

Hi Foodies! A friend showed me this hysterical play by play of a man trying Taco Bell's new Doritos Taco Loco,  and I had to share!


I'm not a fast-food lover myself, but I'd be interested to hear any other reviews of the Taco Loco, KFC's Double Down, Jack in the Box's Bacon Shake, or any other fast food creation we've seen in the past few years. Have you tried them?

Products I love: Yogurt Edition

I’m a yogurt-eating fiend. For the last few months, my preference has leaned more toward Greek yogurts, because they have more protein and less sugar than regular yogurt, and I’ve tried a variety of brands.

The last time I went grocery shopping at my local grocer Johnnie’s Fresh Market one of my favorite brands, Chobani, was on sale. Score.

Imagine my surprise when Johnnie’s stocked not only my usual favorites of Pomegranate, Honey, and Vanilla – but also Blood Orange. Turns out, Chobani has launched several new flavors: Apple Cinnamon, Blood Orange, and Passion Fruit, as well as two new kid-friendly varieties: Orange Vanilla, and Vanilla Chocolate Chunk.

I tried the Blood Orange flavor this morning, and I cannot describe to you how delightful it was. To those unfamiliar with the Blood Orange, image that familiar citrus taste, but with a hint of raspberry. Kudos to Chobani for branching out to more exotic flavors! I highly recommend the new flavor and look forward to trying more of the new line.
