I had to laugh -- because I do a similar fake!
My signature dish is one I learned from my father -- a cheesey rice and vegetable dish, made by adding ingredients from a box of Near East rice pilaf.
However, I REGULARLY pass it off as a risotto!
haHA!
What are your dirty kitchen secrets? I'd love to hear!!
Sometimes, I'll order in delivery. Then if my friends ask, I'll say it's DiGiorno. I can't confess to them that my cooking skills are so limited I have to order in pizza because I can't even heat it properly myself.
ReplyDeleteI make a pretty decent shepherd's pie. The mashed potatoes on top come from a box.
ReplyDeleteI used to make a pretty decent non-dairy chocolate pie. The main ingredient (and pretty much only ingredient) was Nasoya Silken Style Creations Non-Dairy Silken Tofu - Dark Chocolate. http://www.nasoya.com/products/silken-style-creations/chocolate.html The pie got rave reviews. Unfortunately, the local grocery stores stopped selling this product and since I couldn't figure out an alternate way to make the chocolate filling, I stopped making the pie.
Also, growing up, my mom used very little fat when cooking to make everything healthier, e.g. using cooking spray instead of butter or oil, using low-fat mayonnaise. If my mom knew how much butter/oil/margarine/mayonnaise I use when I cook now....well, I can't imagine her reaction!
